Hello Again

Hi there peeps,
I am so sorry I haven't posted in a while, but it's been a bit hectic haha So this weeks challenge is to talk about something that makes us happy. So this is hard one because SO many things make me happy, no word of a lie. I am so happy with life at the moment... But if I'd have to specify I'd say I'm most happy for my friends. They just keep me going so much!!!! With out them I don't think I'd be here today, or be the person I am today.

Banana MalkShake

Bananas x6
Water 1.2lr

Blend these together and there you have it!

I apologies for the short post, but I have been really busy (and still am really busy) I will hopefully pick up the posted again soon, but for now, Adios

Friday, 14 November 2014

Hi guys... So this week I haven't made anything new, and excited for you (plus I've been quite busy), Which is why I'm writing this with 3 minutes to go!! Help!
But this week is remembrance week, and the challenge was/is to name our favorite war movie. Now I don't support (which I hope no one does) but I do do remembrance day because its important to remember those who risked their lives for ours and those who are still risking. But I don't have a favorite war movie because I don't like (I think they are boring, and can never follow them as I'll get distracted). Plus I've never ever seen the boy in the stripped pjs all the way through either.

This post seems a bit pointless, but at least I'm here writing... And I've only gone 3 minutes into saturday :/

Love you guys
Until next time
Hazel

TFIOS

Hey there everyone :) So this week has been rather hectic, therefore my recipe will not be related to the quote but I'll shall talk about it before I write it.
So I have never read the the book The Fault in Our Stars, but I did go and see it because of Ryon (Thank you by the way). I loved it, in fact straight after the movie I brought the book. But I still haven't read it because I let my family borrow it. (This is probably a bit boring but I'll get to the point). So my mum read it and then my brother read it (he's 17 years old) and my mum came back to me saying how the book changed my brother life. Now this, to me, was amazing, my brother never really expresses his feeling or thoughts very often, and rarely talks about things and life and so forth, so hearing that this book opened his eyes to life, and made him see things different was astonishing! So even though I haven't read the book (just seen the film, and though the film was beautiful, I bet the book was so much better) I still feel its one of the best books I will ever read (at the moment).
Its touched so many people, in so many different ways and that's amazing!
Understand? Yes! Good. Okay? Okay!
So it's inevitable that some people will not like this book, for some rest, and I am not judging, but no one needs to be judged about there opinion (that's just stupid) I'm just saying this post my not be everyone's cup of tea, but I feel like people should understand the message and how important life is, and we take it for granted so much. I mean nothing lasts forever, and I know this weeks challenge is to stay positive and I believe that is positive. Once we understand that concept, we can live life so much happier and in the moment, and treasure every little detail, every beautiful memory!

Title Unknown

Ingredients

Butternut Squash
Pumpkin
Onion
(Whatever veg you have really)
Tahini (made from ground, hulled sesame seeds)
Olive Oil
Lemon Juice
Garlic

So for starters, roast your veg, so your pumpkin, butternut squash, onion (carrot, anything really). Then you need to make a mix to pour over it, and for that you need your tahini, Olive oil, lemon juice and garlic. Mix them all to a paste/mix/sauce (whatever aha).
So to serve place your beggies on a place, drizzle the sauce over (add a few herbs) and serve with rice (which is what we did) but you can serve with what ever you desire.
Hope you enjoy this dish, I did and It was gorgeous.

Please let me know what you think.

See you next week

Follow your Dreams

Hey All,
So this week is kinda a 'Favorite Movie Week' and the challenge is to write a bit about our favorite movie. Now I know this has nothing to do with food, but I will get to that.Okay now my all time favorite Disney movie would have to be The Jungle Book. But recently I watched Tangled and I have slowly become obsessed with it, it's so inspirational. I love the fact that the main lesson it teaches people is to follow your dreams no matter how impossible they seem at first.
It teach kids to believe in themselves and follow their hearts, and that any ideas or any random thoughts they might have aren't stupid or silly, but are possible if they believe they are possible.

Also, I love the idea that they can keep their innocents, but still be and act mature when needed and think level headed.
It also teaches kids about love and how magic it can be when you find the right person, and that sometimes the right person may not be that obvious to begin with (and you may even hate the guy at the start) but soul-mates are soul-mates, and loves, love. Where nothing you can do can change the fact that you are in love.

Anyway, so because I've rambled on I'm only going to give you guys a simple recipe tonight.

Ingredients
Pasta
Quorn Chicken
Celery
Pesto

Now all I do for this is get some oil and preheat it. Once hot place the chicken pieces, which should take about 10mins to cook and start cooking the pasta, which takes approx. 10mins
Cut up the celery to desired size.
When everything is cooked (shouldn't take more then 10mins or so), throw everything together and mix in the pesto.
Serve hot and enjoy!

So my lovely people of the internet, I bid you goodnight and see you next week.
Until next time,
Hazel

Autumn Rissotto

Hey guys,
So this weeks quote is 'Why fit in when you were born to stand out', and I live by this quote. There are too many views on how people should look and behavior in today's society, but anyway I'm not here to preach I'm here I'm here to give you delicious recipes.
So this week I have been really busy (and ill) so I haven't been able to try something new this week, but I have a recipe I really want to try, and will be trying (hopefully) next week. SO....

Autumn Risotto

2tbsp olive oil
Prep & cook time: 45mins
1 small onion, chopped                                                           Difficulty: Easy
250g/9oz butternut squash (peeled & diced)                          CANNOT BE FROZEN
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1tbsp plucked rosemary, finely chopped or to taste
175g/6oz arborio rice
about 750g hot vegan stock
salt and freshly ground black pepper

To garnish: Sprigs of fresh rosemary.

  • Heat the oil in a large heavy based pan and cook the onion and butternut squash for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Stir in garlic, rosemary and rice and mix well, coating in the juices from the pan.
  • Add a ladle full of the hot stock to the rice and cook on a low heat until all the liquid has absorbed stirring frequently. Repeat until all the stock is used and the rice is creamy and tender, this will take about 20 minutes.
  • Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  • Spoon into warmed bowls and serve garnished with sprigs of fresh rosemary.

Now hopefully next week I'll be able to tell you how I truly feel about this recipe, but I love risotto, so much :) and I love the autumn feel to it.

Okay, so this week we had a challenge from the lovely Ryan, where we had to change are post up a bit, so I've tried adding some colour to go with the autumn theme, and I've added some more photos. :)

Hope you like it, and if you try this recipe please let me know what you think of it, as I'm really looking forward to trying it!!!

Until next time, my Sweeties!

Veggie Curry

Hi guys
So the quote for this week is "To not have some battle scars, is to have never lived" (I'm not saying you have to have 'battle scar' to have lived, but, yeah).
Because this quote is a rather hard you for food, and because I've been ill this week, I feel like giving a recipe for something that makes you feel better, and gives you energy, but something that is also healthy and veggie :D

Now the recipe I'm going to be giving you guys many not seem like the first choice people go to when ill, but I do and I think its amazing.

Veggie Curry

Cauliflower x1
Potato x3/4
Spinach (Large handful)
Tomato (1 tin, chopped)
Garlic
Onions x2/3
Red Pepper x1/2
Curry powder
Coconut Milk (1 tin)
Veg stock cube x1

So to start of with fry the onions until they are soft. Then add the cauliflower, potato and garlic and fry everything for about 5mins or until the potatoes and cauliflower are soft and cooked. Once everything is cooked, add the tinned chopped tomato, the red peppers and the curry powder, (with the curry powder, you can add as much or as little as you like depending on how hot you like your food).
You also add the stock cube at this point and leave to cook for another 10mins.
After 10mins you could add the spinach, but because the spinach take minutes you can add it whenever once you've added the tomatoes.
So the last thing to add is the coconut milk, and once that's been added you cook the curry until the cauliflower and potatoes are cooked.
Now you've cooked the curry, don't forget to put some rice on and cook that until its fluffy and soft. I know how hard cooking rice is, and I'm one to talk coz we now have a rice cooking, but you are cooking a lot of rice and struggle each time I highly suggest in investing in one. but yeah anyway, Once the rice is cooked, you can heat up the curry and get stuck in.
Now this curry will taste just as good being re-heated so don't worry if you don't eat it all at once :)

I hope you like this recipe, if so comment your thoughts and any suggestion you guys might have for me to try! :)

So see you next week, lovely people of the internet.

Love

Food Friday Introduction

Hello World,
Hazel here, So I'm here to give health tip and simple recipes for all of you try.

Now I'd just like to warn you guys that I am Vegan, so most of my recipes will be too, but they will all be Vegetarian.
And I want to apologies in advance to anyone who thinks I'm 'preaching' on here by just doing vegan/veggie recipes, but its just my opinions and views and I'm sorry if I offend anyone.
Every recipes I give you I will have tried myself before hand, so I can give you my personal twist to them, and anything that I think will work well or not.

So today's blog is just an introduction, and I will start with the recipes next week, but I will give you a very, very easy meal (Which I made myself tonight).

All it is is Salad, Potatoes and veggie Sausages,
Now I prefer Linda McCartney Veggie sausages but the ones here are Fry's family (which are just as good). So the ingredients are:
-Veggie Sausages
-Potatoes (New, If possible)
-Lettuce
-Spring Onions
-Tomatoes
-Cucumber
-Celery
-Spinach
-Vegetable/Sunflower Oil
-Mayo (Egg free)

So basically, Put the potatoes on to boil, and while the potatoes are boiling, chop up the Lettuce and spinach and place into a salad bowl, cut up the tomatoes, cucumber, and celery and mix them into the bowl, adding the thinly sliced spring onion. Now you can dress this salad however you want, but I like to add some balsamic and olive oil (with some salt) and then mix everything together.
The potatoes should take about 20mins, so 5(ish)minutes into putting them on, place you sausages into a pan and cook them for 15mins.
When the potatoes have cooked, drain the water and allow to cool for a few minutes. Once cooled, scoop in some of the egg free mayo and mix.
Place everything onto a plate and enjoy.

Now this is a very simple (boring) recipe really but its so tasty and easy I feel like I have to share it as I don't see why everyone can't do this, and it's such a health meal, I don't see why everyone shouldn't do this.

I hope you liked this post, the recipes should get better, and I hope to do some seasonal stuff as well which I'm excited about.

I don't how I'm going to finish my blog each week, maybe you guys could help, but for now... Bye!

Love
Hazel
